Writing challenge #7 (Mid-May 2006) !

I'm torn. On one hand, kudos to amanfalath for remembering that there is such a thing as monthly challenges in this community and anti-kudos to me for forgetting that it is, khem-khem, my turn to deliver one. On the other hand, let's be honest - my last challenge generated zero writing activity. So here's a challenge, but feel free to ignore it entirely and turn to amanfalath for sager advice:

A five franc piece is lost. A five franc piece is found. Someone buys something they really needed. Someone doesn't buy something they really wanted. A third party observes and draws conclusions.
