I know it's been said before many time in this community, but wow. There is a LOT of....interesting new stuff on FF.Net lately. A lot. It's like everyone in the world suddenly wanted to try their hand at it. Which may be good or bad, depending...

(this is just a desperate attempt to get some conversation going)

Dunno. Have you read the offerings by MimiK? I may just be being dense here, but I really fail to see what the point of posting those pieces was. I read them several times to try and make some sense out of them, but no joy.

Ah. The reason being that s/he usually writes in German. But I still fail to see the point of the elephants...

I have yet to read the fics of the 'other people'. Or maybe my humour has just decided to desert me these past few weeks...

'Revolution but Civilization' wasn't that bad - a bit short and to the point, but a slightly better class than the usual fare.

I must admit that I have shamefully neglected the Amis as a whole; I've tended to skip fic about them. As you say, the trend seems to be going that way, I think I should start paying more attention to them from now on.

Well, I've got some free time now, so I intend to stick in my tuppence's worth of Javert - I've got several chapters/one-shots very almost nearly completed. Take heart though; soon the trend will swing somewhere else. I for one would love to see more of Patron-Minette - they seem to have disappeared into the long grass for quite some time...

It depends on the surge (book or musical). Being a too-busy student, I haven't had much time for FF.net lately, but I will say that if the new authors have just seen the musical, there will be a sad lack of Patron-Minette work.

Sadly true. Everybody has been busy for their own reasons, but it does seem a shame that there aren't many new book readers coming up through the ranks.

NaNoWriMo killed the fanficcer in me, I'm afraid. I kind of transplanted my Valjean and Javert to my NaNovel and gave them new names and faces.

(Although I still think I'll get back to 'Dog Wolf' when November is over)

off topic, if anyone wants to read my NaNo exerpt, i'd love to hear your opinion (more on content than style, which is still in NaNo-state of crudity):

I read Chapter Six a couple of days ago, and I must say it was wonderful. And yes, I did get the feeling that I was reading about your Valjean and Javert, but I was a bit shy on commenting. I do love the idea of a disappearing toilet, though. The thought processes and confusion are all very well put...

Sorry, I'm not being very eloquent tonight - I should be going to bed. But yes, very nice, and if presented with the opportunity I would love to read more.

Sure. I have about 47 pages on those two by now. :) Drop me a line if you want me to forward you the whole lot.

More than willing. :) My email's on ff.net - I haven't changed it at all. I'm still unemployed and have just finished the Aubrey/Maturin series, so I will have plenty of time on my hands to read.

Please do return to it. I'd love to comment on your work-- which I read some time ago, and promptly forgot --but tommorrow is Saturday. The amount of sleep I round up to-day will directly influence the amount of tea I must consume on the morrow.
